MAERO PSYCHO Maero Psycho, also known by his nickname Taker, is a rising South African hip-hop artist from Mountain View, Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga. At 19, he is building his identity around music that is raw, honest, emotional and rooted in real-life experiences. Maero Psycho describes his sound as dark, emotional, raw, melodic, aggressive, and energetic. His music draws from the realities around him, with themes of money, loyalty and staying true to the real ones. Rather than creating music based on an image, Maero Psycho uses his own experiences as the foundation for his lyrics and storytelling. His love for music is what pushed him to pursue a career as an artist. Inspired heavily by King Von and Lil Durk, with South African influence from Nasty C, Maero Psycho aims to develop a sound that feels personal while still connecting with listeners who understand where he comes from. Beyond entertainment, Maero Psycho has a bigger purpose. He wants his music to motivate young people and give kids something to believe in. His ambition is to grow from a young artist from Mpumalanga into an award-winning artist whose music leaves a lasting mark. Although he has yet to officially release music, Maero Psycho has already worked with artists including Lekkerfied, Flaco and King Sus. He is currently preparing his upcoming EP, Taker, which represents another step in defining his sound and introducing his story to a wider audience. For Maero Psycho, the music speaks for itself. His identity is built on being authentic, confident and unapologetically himself. Maero Psycho is more than a name. It's his story, his sound and his way of life.
