Marco Normando

Bassist of the Caserta music scene, active since the nineties in the Italian alternative rock and independent circuit. He began his musical career in 1990, at the age of fourteen, approaching the electric bass and the Italian alternative rock scene. The first experiences are linked to Embolia, a project influenced by the Italian alternative rock of the early nineties, and later to Alms, a grunge band active in the period of maximum expansion of the genre. In the following years he developed a significant live experience also through a project dedicated to Tool, sharing the artistic path with the singer Marco Di Matteo. The Disappearing One A central step in his career came in 2008 with the foundation of The Disappearing One, together with Fabio Giobbe. The band develops an identity that can be traced back to alternative rock, indie rock and acoustic and songwriting sounds of international origin. His recording career includes Transitional Phase (2010), The Ends That Never End (2011), Several Efforts for Passionate People (2012) and the self-titled album The Disappearing One (2014). The project leads Marco to an intense live activity in Italy and to share the stage with artists and bands such as Paolo Benvegnù, The Niro (Davide Combusti), Perturbazione, Plan de Fuga and Malfunk. The album The Disappearing One, released by Octopus Records, was mastered at Sterling Sound Studios in New York by Steve Fallone. The album, consisting of ten tracks, expands the band's research through contaminations between alternative rock / pop, soft rock and international songwriting. In the path of The Disappearing One Marco also participates in the production and arrangements, playing the bass and, in some productions, also the piano. Malmö In 2014 he founded Malmö together with Daniele Ruotolo, a Caserta formation oriented towards alternative and post-rock. The line-up includes Daniele Ruotolo, Vincenzo De Lucia, Marco Normando and Vincenzo Del Vecchio. The first work is the demo Palloni Aerostatici, recorded at the Casetta Studio and consisting of five tracks. With Malmö Marco takes part in an intense live activity, participating in festivals and sharing the stage with Fast Animals and Slow Kids, Lo Stato Sociale and Be Forest. In 2015 the band was also among the national finalists of the MEI. The path continues with the collaboration with Massimo De Vita (Blindur) for pre-productions and with Paolo Alberta for mixing, while the mastering is entrusted to Birgir Jón Birgisson, historic technician of the Sundlaugin Studio and collaborator linked to the Sigur Rós scene. In 2017 Manifesto della chimica romantica was published, followed by Rivoluzione Rotation in 2020 and ZOLFO in 2023. The latter sees Marco on bass in the line-up composed of Daniele Ruotolo, Vincenzo De Lucia and Vincenzo Del Vecchio, with a mix entrusted to Daniele Ruotolo and mastering by Birgir Jón Birgisson at the Sundlaugin Studio.
