Nicholas Tims is a percussionist, drum-set performer, and emerging music professional from Maryland. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Performance with a minor in Communications at Towson University, where he continues to develop his artistry through solo performance, ensemble work, and collaborative music-making. Nicholas has over five years of experience performing on percussion and drum set across a variety of musical settings. His performance experience includes marching band, wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, pit orchestra, jazz band, steel pan ensemble, rock workshops, and youth orchestra. He has also performed with the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra and has participated in honor ensembles, including the Baltimore County Public Schools All-County Band and the Towson University Honor Band. As the drummer and booking manager for The 5th Mode Collective, Nicholas performs a diverse repertoire that blends jazz, funk, fusion, and R&B. He is passionate about creating memorable live performances while building meaningful connections within the music community and expanding opportunities for the band throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Beyond performing, Nicholas is dedicated to music education, leadership, and community engagement. His long-term goals include establishing a successful career as a freelance musician, educator, and producer while inspiring others through performance and mentorship. Driven by a commitment to artistic excellence and lifelong learning, Nicholas continues to seek opportunities to collaborate with fellow musicians, perform for new audiences, and contribute to the growth of the performing arts.
