Sergio Borsato was born in Switzerland in 1962. The son of Venetian immigrants, he spent his childhood partly with his paternal grandparents, in Cartigliano – a charming village in the Venetian countryside on the outskirts of Bassano del Grappa located on the banks of the Brenta River – and a small Swiss town with an unpronounceable name near Zurich, Ünteriggenthall. At the age of 6 he began to play the harmonica and at 10 his father gave him his first guitar, a six-string that often became a five-string... Pink Floyd, Eagles, America, Crosby, Jethro tull, Yes, Genesis, Clash, Ramones. Together with Italian author music. De Andrè, De Gregori, Guccini, Bertoli, Vasco accompany him on days and nights of fresh water and roses in the sun. He began writing his first songs in 1978, at the age of 16. At 18 he began to frequent local philological circles and, in Bassano del Grappa, he met and frequented the poet Gino Pistorello, "Pisto" for friends, with whom he began an exchange of linguistic and cultural ideas and whose writings and poems he preserved. He became aware that Venetian was the language of transfer and belonging. He began writing his first songs in Venetian coiné. He collaborates with various local musical groups and the first songs are born in the cellars. In 1986-87 he approached groups that pursued autonomist and independentist aims and it was in this particular environment that his first musical ideas were born. Significant are the albums "Camicia Verde" (1996), "Sempre Avanti" (1998) and "Eclissi" (2000), which are albums of strong anti-system protest, therefore uncomfortable and, for this reason, distributed only through non-traditional channels, "censored" by the media system. Despite this, Borsato still manages to arouse the attention of insiders. In 1999 he began his first tour that took him to the main cities of the North, 15 cities that warmly welcomed the singer-songwriter and his "Wallace band". From this tour was born the album "live tour 1999", printed in limited copies and dedicated to supporters. In 2001 he met the composer and arranger Nicola Albano, director of the Daigo Recording Studio in Padua, with whom a relationship of friendship and important artistic collaboration was born. From this meeting, thanks to their mutual friend Fermino Dal Canton, a new independent music production company was born, Daigo Music, with which the 3 will give life to the first real recording project with the album "La Strada Bianca". The choice of musicians falls on the most prestigious national and international names such as Andrea Braido on guitars, Massimo Varini, on guitars, Davide Ragazzoni on drums, Stefano Olivato on bass, as well as a series of other instrumentalists, including Marco Fanton (guitars) and Alessandro Chiarelli (violin). In 2003 Sony Music decided to distribute it in Italy and abroad with an exclusive contract, using the most prestigious ones....... continue in www.sergioborsato.com
