Early Life and Artistic Roots Born in Uricani, Romania in 2001, the artist now known as Rio began his journey under the moniker yunghope. He grew up in Rome, Italy from an early age, immersed in neighborhoods full of diverse nationalities and cultures. These varied perspectives deeply shaped his worldview. During high school, he moved back to his hometown, where his life experiences pushed him to express himself through music. Maturing early in a challenging social context, he started as a beatmaker and eventually found his voice as a rapper. The Rise to the Industry After finishing his studies, a lack of local opportunities led him to Timișoara. This period matured him artistically and paved the way to Bucharest, where he signed his first major record deal in 2023 with RUL. Following this experience, Rio recently exited his major label contract to take full control of his art, restarting his career as a completely independent artist. Musical Vibe and Vision Rio's sound is a dynamic blend of West European urban vibes and US influences, specializing in French Rap, Afrobeats, Afrotrap, and Trap.
