Zonkezinhle Nkadi is a South African Afro-pop artist from Ennerdale, Johannesburg, who is carving his own path through music with a sound rooted in emotion, self-expression and real-life experiences. His love for music began at a young age, and by the age of 12, Zonkezinhle had already discovered that music was more than just something he enjoyed—it was a way for him to express himself and connect with others. Growing up, he developed a strong love for singing, harmonies and Afro-pop, although he later explored Amapiano and spent several years developing his artistry within the genre. Today, Zonkezinhle is returning to his roots with a renewed passion for Afro-pop. The genre gives him the freedom to explore his vocals, tell stories and create music that feels authentic to who he is. Inspired by artists such as Tyla, Aymos and Mas Musiq, he hopes to build a distinctive identity that combines soulful vocals, catchy melodies and relatable storytelling. His journey has not always been easy. After losing his mother at the age of 10, Zonkezinhle was raised by his grandmother. At 12, he found a deeper purpose in music when a mentor recognised his potential and encouraged him to pursue his talent. Losing that mentor years later became another defining moment in his journey, but their belief in him continues to inspire him. As an independent artist, Zonkezinhle has learned to create and release music with limited resources, often working from his phone and producing through accessible tools. Rather than allowing the lack of equipment or financial resources to stop him, he continues to find creative ways to develop his sound, visuals and brand. His music explores themes of love, heartbreak, self-discovery, ambition, patience and perseverance. Projects such as Pressure Makes Diamonds reflect his belief that success takes time, while REVERIE represents another step forward in his evolution as an artist.
